Netflix Series~Short Reviews: Anne with an *E*...

Anne with an *E*, in my humble opinion, was pretty good, except for a few things...I'll get to that shortly, otherwise my review here will be finished immediately, with only one paragraph... Lol πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

First of all, it is based on a novel, written in the early nineteen hundreds by Lucy Maud Montgomery, called Anne of Green Gables, and was turned into a movie in 1985.  The era in which Anne with an *E* is staged, is in the late eighteen hundreds, with all the romanticism, and changes happening in those times, and how the so called weaker sex stands out and has to fight for her place in society.  In those days, the important thing was to get married, be taken care of by the husband, have a dowry, and bear children...No dreams!  Or rather the dreams were there, hidden, but difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. ☹️

As I was saying at the beginning, some things didn't go so well, meaning that some of the episodes didn't make sense.  They were not *precise*, and left one sort of wondering...  However, being the dreamer that I am (and romantic too!), I did like most of it.  Sometimes Anne was a real brat and tough to digest, and the character seemed a bit exaggerating, but, all in all, it was pleasant...and a heart winner! 😍😡

The not so accepting moments of the story, which left one wondering, and/or wanting for more, came around especially at Season 3, the last two episodes (9 and 10), imho.  Everything seemed to be coming to a halt, and the story line was bursting with happenings and events, that left most of the audience (at least me) at loss...  The story tellers knew that it was going to end, with no hopes of a Season 4, so they raced right through it!  phew!

Why am I saying this?

Well, Production must have found out, at the last moment sort of, that there was not going to be a Season 4...😒This is my thinking, of course...They just crammed everything in, on Season 3, episode 10 (the last one), rushing through the whole plot and story, just to make sure that we (the audience) would know that no one was left out, and that everyone (or almost), of the show's characters, would have a happy ending.

Several things could have triggered that sad (and untimely) decision:

~ the budget:  not enough for a whole new season, with 10 episodes
~ the main character (Anne):  growing and not being the right person for the role...or maybe, she           wanted to change too?
~ Maybe they had some reviews, only spoken in private, since Netflix doesn't seem to allow reviews        anywhere;
~ Other hidden reasons they'd rather not talk about.

Anyway, that's how it is and there's nothing you or I can do about it...

The Music that was used on this Netflix series, was awesome!  Here's one of the many tracks that I liked:  *A Big Day Ahead*, by  Ari Posner · Amin Bhatia and fiddle with Drew Jurecka...

If you have watched Anne with an *E*, who is your favorite character, excluding Anne herself, obviously?!  You can list up to three! 😍😍😍  Mine are Matthew, and Gilbert, but also Marilla...

Three Bad Moments in History...Pandemics...

The talk of the day, all over the universe, since the start of this 2020 (a catastrophic Leap Year?), has been Corona virus, later changed to Covid~19, but I'd like to remind you of two other pandemics.  There have been all kinds of diseases, sicknesses, atrocities, but I am just sticking--and very briefly so because I am not a medical expert--to three major ones.

1.  The Great Plague or Black Death
2.  The Spanish Flu
3.  Covid~19

The Great Plague (or Black Death), also called pestilence, was the most fatal pandemic  that occurred between 1347 to 1351, causing 75 to 100 million deaths!

The Spanish Flu pandemic, brought approx. 50 to 100 million deaths, occurring beween 1918 and 1919.

Covid~19, a pandemic of our days (2020), brought on (and still is at my time of writing), more than 232.570 deaths, for the exact record, starting from December 31, 2019, through May 1 (Friday), 2020...and is still ongoing...(always at my time of writing).

In a way, we, in our current times, are a bit luckier, because of more modern ways of healing, health equipment, hospitals, etc., etc...

As I have been saying throughout these dire times, please stay safe everyone!  this will be overcome, hopefully...with my heart going out to all the people who have lost so much of their lives, and their loved ones...  Only time will heal, and not 100 percent!

additional note:  I started writing this more than a month ago, and have finally finished short review now (May 1, 2020/Friday)

Obviously, the track I have chosen, is the misty, haunting and mesmerizing at the same time, *Only Time*, by Enya, which I have used for so many moments... πŸŒ
