Netflix Series~Short Reviews: Anne with an *E*...

Anne with an *E*, in my humble opinion, was pretty good, except for a few things...I'll get to that shortly, otherwise my review here will be finished immediately, with only one paragraph... Lol πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

First of all, it is based on a novel, written in the early nineteen hundreds by Lucy Maud Montgomery, called Anne of Green Gables, and was turned into a movie in 1985.  The era in which Anne with an *E* is staged, is in the late eighteen hundreds, with all the romanticism, and changes happening in those times, and how the so called weaker sex stands out and has to fight for her place in society.  In those days, the important thing was to get married, be taken care of by the husband, have a dowry, and bear children...No dreams!  Or rather the dreams were there, hidden, but difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. ☹️

As I was saying at the beginning, some things didn't go so well, meaning that some of the episodes didn't make sense.  They were not *precise*, and left one sort of wondering...  However, being the dreamer that I am (and romantic too!), I did like most of it.  Sometimes Anne was a real brat and tough to digest, and the character seemed a bit exaggerating, but, all in all, it was pleasant...and a heart winner! 😍😡

https://screenrant.com/anne-with-e-cancelled-season-4-reason-why/tldr/3

The not so accepting moments of the story, which left one wondering, and/or wanting for more, came around especially at Season 3, the last two episodes (9 and 10), imho.  Everything seemed to be coming to a halt, and the story line was bursting with happenings and events, that left most of the audience (at least me) at loss...  The story tellers knew that it was going to end, with no hopes of a Season 4, so they raced right through it!  phew!

Why am I saying this?

Well, Production must have found out, at the last moment sort of, that there was not going to be a Season 4...😒This is my thinking, of course...They just crammed everything in, on Season 3, episode 10 (the last one), rushing through the whole plot and story, just to make sure that we (the audience) would know that no one was left out, and that everyone (or almost), of the show's characters, would have a happy ending.

Several things could have triggered that sad (and untimely) decision:

~ the budget:  not enough for a whole new season, with 10 episodes
~ the main character (Anne):  growing and not being the right person for the role...or maybe, she           wanted to change too?
~ Maybe they had some reviews, only spoken in private, since Netflix doesn't seem to allow reviews        anywhere;
~ Other hidden reasons they'd rather not talk about.

Anyway, that's how it is and there's nothing you or I can do about it...

The Music that was used on this Netflix series, was awesome!  Here's one of the many tracks that I liked:  *A Big Day Ahead*, by  Ari Posner · Amin Bhatia and fiddle with Drew Jurecka...

If you have watched Anne with an *E*, who is your favorite character, excluding Anne herself, obviously?!  You can list up to three! 😍😍😍  Mine are Matthew, and Gilbert, but also Marilla...

Three Bad Moments in History...Pandemics...

The talk of the day, all over the universe, since the start of this 2020 (a catastrophic Leap Year?), has been Corona virus, later changed to Covid~19, but I'd like to remind you of two other pandemics.  There have been all kinds of diseases, sicknesses, atrocities, but I am just sticking--and very briefly so because I am not a medical expert--to three major ones.

1.  The Great Plague or Black Death
2.  The Spanish Flu
3.  Covid~19

The Great Plague (or Black Death), also called pestilence, was the most fatal pandemic  that occurred between 1347 to 1351, causing 75 to 100 million deaths!

The Spanish Flu pandemic, brought approx. 50 to 100 million deaths, occurring beween 1918 and 1919.

Covid~19, a pandemic of our days (2020), brought on (and still is at my time of writing), more than 232.570 deaths, for the exact record, starting from December 31, 2019, through May 1 (Friday), 2020...and is still ongoing...(always at my time of writing).

In a way, we, in our current times, are a bit luckier, because of more modern ways of healing, health equipment, hospitals, etc., etc...

As I have been saying throughout these dire times, please stay safe everyone!  this will be overcome, hopefully...with my heart going out to all the people who have lost so much of their lives, and their loved ones...  Only time will heal, and not 100 percent!

additional note:  I started writing this more than a month ago, and have finally finished short review now (May 1, 2020/Friday)

Obviously, the track I have chosen, is the misty, haunting and mesmerizing at the same time, *Only Time*, by Enya, which I have used for so many moments... πŸŒ

In Times Like These...πŸ™πŸ’šπŸ™

In times like these, one appreciates life more, even the tiny things.  I've always been the kind of person who appreciates everything, maybe because I have an inner sensitivity, higher than others?  It doesn't take much...Things changed for me, back in 1999, when another real tragedy hit me, where my Loved one (my boyfriend, Gee) passed on, dying in my arms almost...  Before, when he was sick and I would leave home for just a few moments, to go get him something that he liked, even if it was raining, I would smile, and *caress* those raindrops.  It was Life! and it helped me remember that I was alive, even with all the doom and gloom surrounding me, because of Gee's sickness.

This *Covid~19 tragedy* has definitely brought together more people than ever, from the different corners of the universe.  Thanking technology for this miracle of *togetherness*, where strangers reach out, hugging each other in a virtual embrace, wishing well to all.  But then, there are also people with negative attitudes, and stressed out personalities, and you read all kinds of things,  some really crazy and absurd.  I'm still sort of smiling over a comment I read where a lady had compared (she was writing a letter to her son who is a three~year old, for years to come) these times, of the pandemic, to how things were in WWII.  I mean, I wasn't born during the war, or any wars, but, come on, you can't team them up, not even close!  Food can be found, the shelves are replenished every day in the supermarkets...Some shops are closed, but a lot of things can be found in the supermarket chains, so, please, lady, think three times before writing things like that.  We have to stay home, but a breath of fresh air can be taken in every once in a while...

Then, you get those who complain constantly:  When I read complaints, on social media mostly, I feel a bit sad:  what if we were really *robbed* of all contact?  not being able to relate with anyone? by phone, by WhatsApp, by the www?!  That indeed would be a close tragedy... We should just embrace everything that we have, at this moment, right now, for it's all an incognito!  Sure, no one lives forever, and--one day or the other--for whichever reason, when time is up, we go, but this is panicky.  Really!  Covid~19 is a silent enemy lurking out there and we don't know when it will strike, or who.  Very scary indeed!

Sometimes, I  feel a bit down, closed up, and sometimes I feel afraid and at loss...What if I get sick?  what if I can't see the people I love anymore?  What if I have to go to the hospital?  how to survive?!  It scares me stiff...  Then, I look out the window and see blue skies, and trees blooming, birds chirping, and I feel a πŸ˜ƒlittle better.πŸŒπŸ˜ƒ However, it's just temporary!   I'm also having problems with work, no work, no income, and I am lucky to have Friends/Fans/Family send me a little help here and there.  I am so thankful...my Angels around the universe... πŸ‘ΌπŸ‘ΌπŸ‘Ό

What an eerie situation...I went out on the street, at dusk, and, the only sound I heard, was silence, and the echo of my voice...when I called out ***is anybody out there...echo are you there?!*** Indeed, I heard my echo coming back like a boomerang...

It's so surreal, some scenes similar to those that you see in a science fiction movie...empty streets, everyone inside their homes, under cover, supposed safety...Yet, ALAS, it is so real!

I was thinking of some Music to add here, appropriate for my story, and I was scanning through my memory, I remembered this by Sugar Ray, an APPROPRIATE title indeed:  KEEP THE STREETS EMPTY for ME...

Maybe this will be continued, maybe not...let me publish for now...

Summer Events at the Sforzesco Castle, in Milan, Italy...

Happening to be in Italy at this time of the year, where there are a lot of events taking place!  At the moment, I am talking about Milan, a city I consider to be the real capital of Italy, and a very international one too!  πŸ˜€

The Summer starts with Musical venues in the very heart of Milan, in a very unusual and interesting setting which is the Sforzesco Castle...Wow! That will be quite an experience!

One of the opening events is organized and promoted by the Roberta Gerli Management Agency, which will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, starting at 9:00 p.m...  Two Bands:  Crying Steel and Dandy & Le Bestie, plus Omar Pedrini, as Special Guest...

An all ROCK night, with CRYING STEEL, which will be the opening act.  Crying Steel are originally from Bologna and were formed in 1982.  They were active from 1982 through 1990, then were on hiatus mode till 2003, and are back on track since then!  Most of its members were formed on the ashes of the rock band, Wurdulak.  The band is formed by Mirko Bacchilega, vocals; Franco Nipoti, guitar; Luigi *JJ* Frati, guitar; Angelo Franchini, bass guitar; and Luca Ferri, on drums...
Their performance starts at 9:00 p.m..

                                                           DANDY & Le Bestie

Once upon a time there was an Italian Band named SKIANTOS, who have now become Dandy Bestia (real name Fabio Testoni), who was the founder of Skiantos...  He is guitar and voice; then we have the original members of Skiantos, who areMax *Magnus*, on bass guitar; Roberto *granito* Morsiani, on drums; and an additional vocalist, who is Beppe Baracca.
The original band was founded at the end of the seventies, becoming one of Italy's main stream Punk rock music bringers.
Their Special Guest will be OMAR PEDRINI, singer/song writer and guitar, former frontman of Timoria, who will perform hits from his former group, plus tracks by Skiantos themselves.
Dandy Bestia will be on stage at approx. 10:00 p.m.. Omar brings Alternative Rock and Pop Rock...he is originally from Brescia.

Tickets for gigs cost 17 Euros, and can also be bought online at  https://www.vivaticket.it
